| Charles Atwood King...
an artist of
the Adirondacks
an impressionistic
influence...an artist statement |
|
I was born and raised in the northern foothills of the
Adirondacks. Anyone who has spent time in the North Country knows
its astonishing beauty.
|
 |
I do complete larger canvases in my studio working from sketches
and using my photos for reference. My work mainly presents images of
nature I find around me with an impressionistic influence |
| Drawing and painting the landscape has always
been an emotional experience for me. I often lose myself in the
process, trying to smell, touch, and absorb the elements. |
 |
As an artist, I believe it is important to practice drawing as
often as possible and to continue to develop the skill of seeing and
interpreting what I see. |
| I think it is important to be as close to the
subject as possible. I prefer to draw/paint on location. |
 |
Perhaps one of life's most rewarding times has been spending the
day completing a series of smaller intimate portraits of the
numerous waterfalls of our backyard brook. |
